GORILLA PARK
Born in 1998 in Saitama, Japan, GORILLA PARK’s works traverse between sculpture, relief, and two-dimensional imagery, often contrasting figurative forms with seemingly abstract shapes.
Painting simple lines reminiscent of ancient wall paintings onto base panels of intricate wood carvings, GORILLA PARK’s layered images confront the viewer with questions of meaning and symbolism. GORILLA PARK completed his BFA in Sculpture at Musashino Art University in 2021, and received his MFA in Sculpture from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2023. Recent solo exhibitions include “Uchujin no Yurei ni Attemitai” (GALLERY TAGA2, Tokyo, 2021) and the group exhibition “Mai Mappu de Rain to Sheipu wo Byoga Suru” (Taka Ishii Gallery, Maebashi, 2023). He was selected as an overseas travel awardee for the Contemporary Art Foundation Award 2020, and received the ART AWARD TOKYO MARUNOUCHI 2021 Hasegawa Shin Award in 2021.
